You don’t need to be fit to begin.
New to exercise, returning after time away, or ready for a change? There’s room for you here. Walking breaks count, and small steps count too.

JG Fitness is James Gonzo’s beginner-friendly coaching for people in Heywood who want a more realistic way into fitness, running or swimming.
Limited spaces available — just 5 coaching places. Starting January 2027.
Ironman finisher30+ years running
James has been running for more than 30 years and swimming for 12 years, to a high standard. His race history includes three 50 km ultras, a full Ironman and three half Ironmans.
In September 2026 he ran the Ladybower 52K ultra in the Peak District with an old friend from his Army days, and two weeks later the Heaton Park Half Marathon in 1:45:11. He is a British Army veteran.
His swimming is the background to his one-to-one adult swimming lessons, for adults who can’t swim yet or can swim a bit.
He is currently training for London 100 and Lakesman Full in June 2027. His weekly swim, bike, run and strength plan is published on his training page, alongside the activities he records.
Still training for the next finish line.

The first step is an honest conversation about your starting point, not a promise of a pace, distance or result.
The January intake is limited to five places. Joining the free waiting list does not reserve one.
No. JG Fitness is for people who are new to exercise, returning after time away, or ready for a change. Walking breaks count, and small steps count too.
His weekly swim, bike, run and strength plan for London 100 and Lakesman Full is on the public training page, alongside the activities he records. A recorded activity is not confirmation that a specific planned session was completed.
Before any commitment, James confirms suitability, availability, coaching format, the remaining programme fee and terms directly. The free waiting list is the default first step; the £49 deposit path records intent before checkout and is not payment or a guaranteed place.
